Dear Families: We are constantly monitoring the ever evolving recommendations set forth by the CDC as they relate to the Covid 19 pandemic. We have given our Horseback Riding Instruction program and boarding services much thought and consideration. Please know we want to protect you, your child, and family much as do you. At this time, WE ARE OPEN and providing Private Horseback Riding Instruction and Horse Boarding Services by appointment only. Our plans presented may need to change as this pandemic evolves. Any changes will be communicated to you immediately. I welcome your call if you care to discuss this matter directly. We have implemented a new hygiene protocol here at Sebesta's Rocking K Ranch that will remain in place until the CDC has stated otherwise. Our new protocol is as follows: We have installed a hand washing sink located at the wash rack. Upon exiting your vehicle at the Ranch, please go directly to this sink and wash your hands. I will support our younger riders needing assistance with this process. Trying to keep everyone's exposure to a minimum, we ask our families to please view your child's lesson from the comfort of your vehicle or, if you feel the need to be near, please social distance a minimum of 6' away. At this time, all students must have their own helmet and store it here at the Ranch in either the box it was purchased in or a helmet carrying case. The student's name must be on both the helmet and container. Helmets are available for purchase from several of the feed stores in Ramona. Elston's Hay and Grain has helmets ranging in price from $36-$110. Wherever you source your helmet from, please check the manufacturing date (a white label from manufacture in month/year format) located on the inside of the headband. Our insurance will not permit the use of helmets manufactured five or more years ago. Riding gloves are strongly encouraged. They are to be stored with the rider's helmet and labeled with the student's name. Riding gloves may be purchased from Elston's Hay and Grain ranging in price from $8-$28. Regardless of the pandemic, gloves are a great safety item as they provide a safety barrier against abrasion when working with the horses. Our Boot Library is still available for those needing this option. As always, boots are expected to be wiped clean with a baby wipe. New to this privilege is the sanitation of your boots after you have wiped them down. Please set your boots on the tack room floor. I will treat them with Chlorahexidine solution before returning them to the library. Our porta potty is still available and is wiped down each evening with Clorox wipes followed by Chlorahexidine solution. The hand sanitizing gel is still located within the porta potty but it is not effective against the Covid 19 virus. Please go to our wash sink and wash hands before resuming your prior activity. Last, and most critical, IF you or your child are not feeling well, have a runny nose or cough (even from allergies), have had a fever in the past 24 hours, sore throat, and/or difficulty breathing - please do not come to the Ranch. If you arrive and have any of these symptoms present you will be asked to leave the Ranch immediately. Families feeling the purchase of a helmet and gloves presents a financial hardship, please contact me directly for special arrangements. Be safe, mentally and physically well. Kimberly Sebesta
